The Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme, which was due to close at the end of October 2020, has been extended until 30 April 2021. The Job Support Scheme launch has also been postponed.
Employers with a UK bank account and who operate UK PAYE schemes are eligible to make a claim, even if they have not previously made use of the scheme. There is also no requirement for an employee to have previously been furloughed.
The scheme will cover 80% of furloughed employees’ wages, which will be capped at £2,500 per employee per month. This extension also allows for a ‘flexible furlough’, where employees can work part-time with their employer putting in a claim for the unworked hours.
